ARTS

The Burlington School offers premier programs in academics, athletics and the arts. Rigorous academics, individual attention and a vibrant learning community make us one of the best college preparatory schools in the North Carolina Triad area.

We believe our students deserve the finest education, and we provide it to them in a number of ways. Our progressive curriculum emphasizes strong foundations across core subject areas, character education and community service. Extracurricular activities range from competitive athletics to fine arts, as well as a variety of interest-based clubs. The Burlington School is a place where students are encouraged to try new things, discover their passions and set goals for the future. When they leave our campus, they have a genuine love for learning and a desire to make the world a better place.

Lower School

At The Burlington School, Lower School students are guided down an intentional path to individualized growth goals. We recognize that no two students learn in the same way or at the same pace. With small classes, teachers have the flexibility to make individual assessments and tailor coursework to your child’s specific needs, establishing strong foundations for every student as they move through Lower, Middle and Upper School, and ultimately, on to college. The Lower School is about more than academic success - we aim for whole-child development through character education and exciting opportunities that foster leadership and teamwork. Here, friendships are made, creativity blossoms and curiosity is piqued.

Middle School

Middle School is a time of rapid growth. At The Burlington School, we make the most of this critical period, helping each student to take ownership of his or her education. As students discover their unique talents, they are nurtured into lifelong passions. This is why we strive to keep our classes small - to allow teachers to understand their students’ interests, and to serve as mentors to them as they set goals for the future. Delving deeper into exploration, creation and reasoning, Middle School students learn to balance increasingly challenging coursework with a plethora of extracurricular activities in the arts and athletic fields.

Upper School

The Burlington School aims to produce graduates who are confident, cultured and college-ready. Upper School students are held to high expectations and, as a result, demonstrate the qualities necessary for future success. Through a combination of innovative instructional methods, progressive learning and traditional pedagogy, our faculty prepares students for college by utilizing multiple teaching styles across all disciplines. Our Upper School students value freedom, safety, student leadership and the positive atmosphere they say is pervasive in their school atmosphere. They describe their teachers as flexible, understanding and encouraging.

My passion is the best education for young people, and we strive to be the best and most accessible independent school in the area.
